Let’s get acquainted! My name is Stephanie.
I paint under the pseudonym St. Carlson. This pseudonym is very simple and uncomplicated.
Let’s start with my childhood: I had a happy childhood thanks to my parents. When I was 5 years old I started to draw. I remember perfectly how I went with my parents to the sea, and all the way to the beach I did nothing but draw all the characters from children’s books. A little grown-up visited the “art clubs”, and later there was art school, from which I graduated with honors. For a certain period afterwards I decided what kind of fine art I prefer: graphics, sculpture or painting.
Education: despite my enthusiasm for drawing from an early age, I received a completely different type of higher education, making me a financier.
Hobbies: it’s not just painting, as you might have thought. I am fond of interior design, as well as sports: gym and boxing are two of my favorite kinds (although I had to leave them for now because of injuries).
Inspiration: inspiration for an artist is something special and can inspire anything. I can’t say that I listen to classical music and inspiration takes me over the hill, not at all, quite the contrary. Inspiration comes by itself and always spontaneously, it can be “caught” in the sun or in the pouring rain, as well as in the smile of a girl passing by, or in the eyes of a child, or you can just in a good mood.
Painting style: I like realism, the style which is less popular now than true impressionism and abstraction. I rarely paint in alla prima but prefer working in layers and glazes. My paintings “live” a long period of formation before becoming “adult” and complete.
My blog started in September 2019, since then I try to fill the site with useful articles and paintings to make it more useful and interesting.
